Ecuador celebrates Cola Remy, or the autumnal equinox

Also known as the autumnal equinox, it is one of the four most important celebrations of the Andean calendar.

Itchimbía Park, in the center of Quito (the capital of Ecuador), was one of the points chosen for the festival.

Members of the national government participated in the ritual, such as Peoples and Nationalities Secretary Luis Pachala, the President of the National Electoral Council Diana Atament, authorities from the Ministries of Public Health and Education, and the Director of the Integrated Security System. ECU 911, Juan Zapata, and officials from the Bolivian and Mexican embassies.

Before a circle of foods from the field such as fruit and grain, the attendees praised Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the sun, while asking for a good harvest and thanking the four cardinal points.

The smoke of incense and the sound of the conch shell accompanied the celebration in which the audience received new energies.

According to the Minister of Peoples and Nationalities, while promoting the festival, it seeks to promote ancestral traditions, preserve the customs of the Andean peoples in the Ecuadorean Sierra, and highlight Andean women and fertility, in addition to promoting tourism.

The ceremony began with a cycle that begins with the month of female fertility and ends with the March equinox.
